We have new members!! Before we start off the writing year (even though we are block late, that's okay, we move...), we would love for you to meet them and get a sense of where your weekly dose of slash content will be coming from. 

First of we have: 

Adèle 

You know that cliché of the literary girl walking around with a notebook who marvels at everything in her surroundings? Yes, with a pencil too. Well, that’s definitely me. I’m Adèle, I come from France, and one of my many passions is to sit on a sunny terrasse (I have to get used to Groningen weather!) with friends, talking about literature, writing down ideas and ideals with an open heart. Apart from emotional, sometimes cheesy, articles, you’ll also most probably see my name under political or international relations related articles, or whatever goes through my busy mind. So if you find a bit cliché, passionate, romantic, with feet on the ground articles, that’s me.

Then we have: 

Giorgia 

Ciao! It’s Giorgia here. For the past few years I have been thinking many times about starting to write articles to share with others, but unfortunately I was never brave enough to begin. Now the opportunity has presented itself and I could not let it go again. I’m beyond thrilled to start finding out what kind of writer I am, what interests me the most and how I would use the beautiful language that we all speak.Words fascinate me more than other thing. When I read or simply listen to someone, I am captivated by them. Hopefully throughout this year I’ll manage to solve this riddle and share eventually a part of me with you all. This for me will definitely be a challenge, nonetheless I am happy to stand up to it.

Human Dreamer. Good words heal souls. All good things come from fantasy, of some sort... 

I might have to start by saying I tend to get a little confused when people talk about “reality”, because this “reality” thing seems like a mediocre story at best (or perhaps more likely a good one told too often and too carelessly). Also, it’s not really real, is it? It’s one of many narrative worlds, most of which are unique to persons, and I might have to admit that I prefer good stories over factual recounts. I feel that this cultural fixation on “Truth” is detrimental to our emotional and aesthetic lives. Stats don’t get you out of depression I suppose. To misquote Dumbledore: “Of course it’s all in your mind, why on earth should that mean that it’s not real?”. It’s a Wilde life… To quote another bearded fella: “There will always be suffering. But we must not suffer over the suffering.” And in that pursuit, I found that making “nonsense'' tends to lead to better results than making “sense”, but I don’t know if that makes sense to you, and frankly, perhaps it does not matter. I tend to believe humans have the ability, the predominant tendency even, to make their own sense, and to turn this life into a narrative adventure of their own. So it would follow that you and I can do that too. If I can help you with that, or help myself with that, then that would be something of meaning. So I create stuff. 

I suppose I write stories, poetry, folktales, philosophy, and cultural commentary.

Last but not least: 

Niko 

Hi! My name is Niko and hopefully soon, you’ll find my name under articles that will be of help to you in various aspects of life. Growing up, I always find myself helping those around me in whatever way I can. Moreover, I also find myself spreading awareness and information about many things, may it be about health, politics, or even just relationships. Unfortunately, there is only so much I can do to help and reach those in need. In light of that, I realized that there are many ways to overcome this difficulty, and one of them is to write about my experiences and thoughts. Although I am only human who has his limits and weaknesses, I do hope that whatever I write will provide insight and wisdom to those who need it. 

We are hoping for a wonderful year of writing and more... Of course even if you aren't a committee member, you are still a part of Slash and can still contribute anonymously or as yourself either by submitting articles, or simply by asking us questions through ask slash.
